Unleash Your Health Potential: Rediscover Healthy Habits! 💚


Hello, hello. This week, how many times have you made a decision, which, after the fact made you go "I knew better"? For me, the latest episode in this series was a cheeky over-indulgence at the local Fish n' Chip Shop, when what my body was really craving was a wholesome, veggie stir-fry.

NUTRITION NOOK:

HEALTHY HABITS


Why is it that we find the simplest things, the hardest to do? You already know this, but if I asked you, super honestly, have you been doing every single one of these this week?

  • Have you prioritised whole foods like vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, and lean proteins in your meals?

  • Have you mindfully reduced your intake of processed foods & refined sugars?

  • Have you stayed well-hydrated with water and caffeine-free herbal teas?

  • Have you eaten your meals mindfully, without any distractions?

Personally, I find the last point an ongoing challenge. However, a challenge is there to be conquered, which can be transformed through working on your healthy habits.

 

Take a moment to think about one small change you can make today. Your journey to healthier habits starts with a single step!



 

WELLNESS WISDOM


This week’s Wellness Wisdom is all about habits. While the timeline for breaking or forming a habit is bio-individual, research from UCL suggests that it takes an average of about 66 days. 


Some further key highlights from the study are below:

  • Bio-Individuality đŸŒ±

    • The time required can vary widely among individuals. The study found that the range for forming a habit was anywhere from 18 to 254 days. 

      Now, while that may sound scary
 when you put it into the context of your lifetime, it’s not long at all
 is it?


  • Complexity Matters 🧐

    • Simple habits may become automatic more quickly than complex ones, especially if they have formed part of your life for a long time.


  • Consistency is Key 🔁

    • Performing the behaviour consistently in the same context contributes to habit formation.


So, in summary: stay consistent and persistent!
